i . second part of genesis IV,7 in Knox with the same passage in the other bible books. Knox [the "lord" to Cain:] "Meanwhile he [Abel] is at thy [Cain’s] mercy [see below] and thou canst have thy way with him" (p.3). Catholic Truth[sic] Society (London): "It [sin] wants to rule you but you must overcome it" [p.3 (?)]. By these words quoted from Knox, the "lord" incites Cain--in vain since the "lord" himself is Abel’s killer (see Epilogue) and since man is no sinner (see corpus, p.)--to kill his younger brother Abel. This material decisive (see Webster's, p.291 for "decide": to arrive at a solution that ends uncertainty or dispute about) for identification [see note below] of the lord of evil, is suppressed [genetically inhibited (see Webster's, p.1163 for "suppress" : to inhibit the genetic expression of)] in the other manuscripts. It is substituted [see here Webster's, p.1153 for "substitute": a person or thing that takes the place of another (italics added)] in those manuscripts by expressions pointing to sin and its redeemer. THEREFORE, THE REDEEMER FROM SIN, SO PRE-ANNOUNCED, SO SELF DESIGNATED AND SO CALLED, IS HIMSELF THE SINNER. See corpus, pp.

ii. substitution of "usury" with "interest" in books ascribed to Matthew and Luke, in CTS and Knox. CTS: Matthew: "Thou oughtest therefore to have committed my money to the bankers: and at my coming I should have received my own with usury" (p.39); Luke: "And why then didst thou not give my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have exacted it with usury?" (p.108). Knox: Matthew: " ... all the more was it thy part to lodge my money with the bankers, so that I might have recovered it with interest when I came" (p.27); Luke: " ... then why didst thou not put my money into the bank, so that I might have recovered it with interest when I came" (p.78) (italics added)

This is why that rate is still known as "fair interest". Compound interest too was not any more. But the English company people [British East India Co.--Ed.] used to levy more. Penal interest at 12 percent was levied by them for the first eight days of default. 24 percent for the next 20 days and 36 percent for longer default.
