The exit of Sankaracharya manifests extraordinary characteristics. The authentic records show that he transited into terminal samadhi in the midst of his pupils after having fulfilled all his undertaken efforts and after composing for them at their wish a string of verses that summarised his system. The records show that he explicitly disintegrated his consciousness from the physical body, which then was no longer visible.
